As one of the first activities of our friends association ICARUS4all we invite all members to an excursion to the Moravian Provincial Archives in Brno with the opportunity to be part of a guided tour in German.
The excursion will be free of costs for our members (except catering).

The 75. Southwestgerman Archival Days will take place in Rottenburg near Tübingen.
According to the motto “The ICARUS-Experience: Cross Border Cooperation, Innovation and Community” Thomas Aigner will speak about the development of ICARUS up to the foundation of the new friends association ICARUS4all.

This year’s conference on chronicles organized by the State Archives of Salzburg in cooperation with the “Bildunsgwerk Salzburg” dedicates itself to regional and local chronicles and related chances, risks and new approaches. In this context Thomas Aigner will present the development of ICARUS up to the establishment of the friends association ICARUS4all with his lecture “Regional- and local History online – ICARUS4all”

A first “Bring your history!” day together with the Friends Association ICARUS4all in Austria
We invite everyone interested to join us at Geras Abbey in Lower Austria to enjoy the beautiful atmosphere of the baroque hall of the monastery, connect with other regional historians or genealogical researchers and gain insight into selected private researching methods. Additionally, you have the possibility to join discussion groups with experts to get the latest information on the platform Matricula, the Topotheque and on research possibilities of border region of Austria and the Czech Republic.
Travel information: Bus transfer
There will be the possibility to take a bus from Vienna to the Geras Abbey and back for €10,00 per person (limited participants, acceptance according to registration date).

11:30: Guided tour (in German) – History of the archives, guided tour through the storage facilities, presentation of selected archival gems
12:30: Lunch at a nearby restaurant (at one’s own expenses)
15:30: Departure – Arrival at VIB Erdberg approx. 18:45 o’clock

Internationale Podiumsdiskussion
Die gemeinsame Geschichte Mitteleuropas bildet sich in ihren Archiven eindrucksvoll ab. Die zunehmende Digitalisierung ihrer Bestände schafft völlig neue Forschungsmöglichkeiten; sie trägt auch zum Abbau von Barrieren und zur Schaffung eines Bewusstseins über nationale Grenzen hinweig bei.
Experten aus fünf Staaten stellen aktuelle Projekte vor, erörtern künftige Entwicklungen und stellen sich in einer interaktiven Diskussion den Fragen und Anregungen des Publikums.
