- cross-links people and institutions – internationally and interdisciplinary, independent of origin, resources and financial capabilities

- offers various services in order to make archival material accessible online, compliant with international standards (infrastructure, data modeling, digitization)
- operates portals such as Monasterium, Matricula or the Topotheque
- enables innovative steps into the future by holding regular meetings and by a permanent exchange of ideas and visions
