Towards a digital edition of the charters of the abbey S. Maria della Grotta with Monasterium.Net

Within the project ENArC – European Network on Archival Cooperation (EU Culture Programme 2007-2013) and the project L’edizione digitale e cartacea dei documenti dell’Italia Meridionale in Monasterium.Net, sponsored by the Università degli studi di Napoli Federico II (Fonds Contribution for International Agreements, A.F. 2014), the research group on the documental patrimony of S. Maria della Grotta started the digital edition in Monasterium.Net of the abbey’s 13th century documents.

The aim is to test for the first time in Europe Monasterium’s software MOM-Ca for the creation of a digital edition.

The kick-off workshop will take place at the Dipartimento di Studi Umanistici in Naples and the participants will be

co:op project at workshop on innovation policies for Cultural Heritage Institutions in Budapest (HU)

The co:op project will be presented at the National Library in Budapest (HU) within a workshop that deals with the question of what kind of policies can be applied to cultural institutions in order to best prepare them for cooperation with citizens and their organisations in research on cultural heritage.

In this context the opportunities of the topotheques as cultural heritage preserving tools, run by citizens themselves and as vital part of the co:op activities, will be introduced to the workshop participants.

Monasterium workshop @ University of Hradec Králové

The Department of Auxiliary Historical Sciences and Archive Studies, Philosophical Faculty, University of Hradec Králové (CZ) and ICARUS kindly invite all students of Archive Studies to take part in a workshop focused on Europe’s biggest virtual charters archive

The workshop will take place in room B 11 and will be led by Mag. Daniel Jeller from Vienna (AT). He is a historian and responsible for IT, digitization and the Monasterium portal at ICARUS. Next to his work he is programming for Digital Humanities projects and does research into the cultural implications of digitization.

All participants will be given information about the database, its origin and development. The aim of the workshop is to teach the participants how to work effectively and creatively with the database, including practical exercises.

The Hungarian Archival Landscape: “Hungaricana” @ Hungarian Parliament

CaptureWithin the ICARUS-Meeting #18 taking place from 17-19 October 2016 in Budapest, hosted by the Budapest City Archives (HU) and co-organized by the National Archives of Hungary within the EU-funded project “community as opportunity (co:op)“, this international conference on “Hungaricana”, the common website of Hungarian Archives, Museums and Libraries, will give valuable insights into the Hungarian Archival Landscape.

Hungaricana” is operated by the Library of the Parliament and aims to give access to the cultural heritage of Hungary through a single online access point. Amongst the over 100 content providers are also the Budapest City Archives, the National Archives of Hungary as well as the National Museum of Hungary.

Gilliland is Professor and Director of the Archival Studies specialization in the Department of Information Studies, Director of the Center for Information as Evidence, Graduate School of Education & Information Studies, and a faculty affiliate of the Center for Digital Humanities at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). She is also the director of the Archival Education and Research Initiative (AERI), a global collaborative effort amongst academic institutions that seeks to promote state-of-the-art in scholarship in Archival Studies.

This lecture of the lecture series “Archive Topics” is dedicated to the Slovenian e-archives project e-ARH.si. The project e-ARH.si is founded by European Union within the framework of the Operative Programme Competitiveness and cohesion 2014-2020 and it’s run by the Slovenian government and all public archives.

Experts from the Archives of Republic of Slovenia will present strategies, plans and activities regarding the development and implementation of e-archives in the Slovenian public archives service. The programme is open to the public and will be held in University Computer Centre in Zagreb, starting at 10 am.
