ICARUS celebrates its 15th anniversary and the beginning of a new era with our new president Birgit Kibal from the National Archives of Estonia!

For this reason we cordially invite you to a meeting with a discussion how to strategically orient and organize ICARUS in the future:

The meeting will take place from 23rd to 24th June 2023 in Klein-Mariazell (30 min. from Vienna – see www.mariazell-wienerwald.at).

Approximate programme:

23rd June: 

  • 11.00 Bus transfer from Vienna main railway station
  • 12.00 Welcome at the meeting venue – the old abbey cellar in Klein-Mariazell 43a
  • 13.30-17.30 Professional part – discussions on the future of ICARUS
  • dinner to be organized on your own, but from 20.00 onwards there is the possibility to have a glass of wine together in the old abbey cellar

24th June: 

  • 09.30-12.00 Professional part – conclusions
  • 12.00 Bus transfer from Vienna main railway station
  • 13.00-14.00 ICARUS4all: general assembly (for ICARUS4all members only)
  • 15.00-15.30 Organ concert in the basilica with guided tour by Thomas Aigner
  • 16.00-17.30 Festive event: festive speech by Dr. Margit Ksoll-Marcon, former director general of Bavarian statal archives
  • 17.30-20.00 Buffet
  • 20.00-05.00 Anniversary party with Na Mahones o Inis Beag (Irish folk), Schlawiener & friends (Rock, Pop covers) and some surprises!

On Tuesday, 12th of December 2023, Sabrina Köhnke (Stiftung Digitale Chancen, Germany) and Dr. Stefania Savva (Synthesis Center for Research and Education, Cyprus) will present the project “BoostDigiCulture” as well as its newly developed Microlearning Upskilling Programme and discuss the benefits of microlearning for the promotion of digital skills among busy cultural heritage professionals.

Within the frame of the project C4Education, our team organises a learning workshop that promises to be a transformative experience for students and professionals alike. Hosted by Heritage Innovation Lab using the working method created by MESA Company, renowned for its groundbreaking approach to solving complex challenges, this workshop offers the opportunity to immerse in the innovative MESA Method – a strategy adopted by leading organizations globally to foster creativity and execution in just a few days.

Workshop Overview

This unique three-day sprint will focus on “Prototyping Business Solutions for Cultural Heritage in Europe”, aiming to blend creativity, innovation, and practical problem-solving skills. Our mission is to explore new avenues for preserving, promoting, and innovating within Europe’s rich cultural heritage sector. Using the MESA Method to guide our journey from concept to prototype we will be thinking about the next steps of Heritage Innovation Lab, a B2B platform for preserving and promoting the rich cultural traditions of Europe through creativity and the most innovative digital technologies.
