ICARUS Croatia Days #11

March 18 - March 20

Discovering Archives – From Research to Storytelling

We are happy to announce the 11th ICARUS Croatia Days, titled Discovering Archives: From Research to Storytelling, a joint initiative by ICARUS Croatia, ICARUS and its international partners.

The conference aims to highlight contemporary trends and practices in the processing, digitization, and preservation of written heritage, alongside the development and promotion of cultural networks. It will also showcase current archival and heritage projects and programs from across Europe. Particular attention will be given to the experiences and opportunities available to archives, heritage institutions, and professionals, as well as their active engagement in international professional initiatives. Each year, the conference brings together a wide range of experts from Croatia and across Europe.

Building on ICARUS Croatia’s extensive experience in Creative Europe and Erasmus+ projects—such as WAAT, AToM, and E-Routes—as well as ongoing pan-European initiatives including SAGA, DTI, and AI4LAM, the conference will explore professional and collaborative approaches to archival sources. A key focus will be placed on creative communication and storytelling, drawing on cultural and historical heritage preserved in archival records, from personal and local narratives to institutional and generational histories.

The program emphasizes networking and collaboration among heritage professionals and communities, citizen science initiatives, and the use of digital tools in cultural and educational activities related to diverse forms of heritage. In addition, the conference will present international projects and initiatives from the social sciences and humanities, creative industries, education, lifelong learning, and social inclusion. These contributions involve GLAM institutions as well as artistic, scientific, and educational communities working in digital storytelling, multimedia heritage presentation, and innovative teaching and networking practices.

The conference will take place in Stubičke Toplice, at Hotel Matija Gubec. Participation is free of charge (no registration fee), though participants are responsible for their own travel and accommodation expenses. The working languages of the conference are Croatian and English.

Interested participants are invited to submit their applications via the online registration form or by email at info.icarushr@gmail.com, including the following information: name and surname, affiliation, presentation title, and a short abstract.

The submission deadline is 6 February 2026.
