Call for Abstracts: Multidisciplinary Research on Cultural Heritage (MRCH 2026)

The 3rd International Scientific Conference – Multidisciplinary Research on Cultural Heritage (MRCH 2026) will take place in Zagreb from 23–25 September 2026, bringing together experts dedicated to the study and preservation of cultural heritage.

Organised by the Croatian State Archives, the University of Zagreb – Faculty of Graphic Arts, and the Museum of Contemporary Art, the conference is supported by several distinguished co-organisers: the University of Zagreb – Faculty of Textile Technology, the Library of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts, ICARUS, ERC-BP (European Research Centre for Book and Paper Conservation-Restoration), and the IIC Croatian Group. The event is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia.

Building on the success of previous conferences — New Approaches in the Research of Written Cultural Heritage on Paper (2023), Colour in Written Heritage: Multidisciplinary Research (2024), and Multidisciplinary Research on Cultural Heritage (2025) — MRCH 2026 continues to expand the international and interdisciplinary dialogue in this field.

Conference Overview

The 2026 conference invites abstracts from scholars and professionals across a broad range of disciplines, including conservation and restoration, art history, history, graphic arts, linguistics, library science, museology, archival science, and related fields. MRCH 2026 offers a dynamic platform for sharing innovative research, fostering collaboration, and advancing multidisciplinary approaches to cultural heritage.

Participation options include oral, poster, and video presentations, with attendance open to all, free of charge, upon application. ​

MRCH2026 encourages submissions on themes like artificial intelligence in cultural heritage, ecology, material interactions, non-invasive research, multispectral and hyperspectral imaging, digitization, preservation, contemporary design influences, materials in collections, colors, and written heritage research.
