AtoM Project: Virtual Exhibition

The partners of the “Archives and Trace of Migration” project have created a virtual exhibition focused on the migration of people and the archival and documentary material that traces these migrations. The exhibition centers on life stories, featuring both renowned historical figures and lesser-known individuals significant to their families and local communities. History is filled with narratives whose traces are preserved in archives, encompassing not only material evidence but also cultural heritage and personal memories.

This exhibition and the visualization of migration are based on community engagement, collaboration, and archival practices, presenting these narratives as life stories. The life stories are displayed on an interactive map using content visualization techniques, allowing you to explore migration in a unique and innovative way. These stories were collected and narrated by the individuals themselves, their descendants, family members, or community members, making them subjects and agents of their own histories. The traces of their lives are preserved in public and private archives.

The uniqueness of this exhibition lies in its format on social media, unveiling its narrative through posts on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, with a novel conceptual approach. Each post is linked to an interactive map, offering content visualization techniques that allow you to explore migration in a unique and innovative way.

This exhibition is one of the activities developed in the framework of the project co-funded by the Creative Europe-Cultural Programme 2022 carried out by our members ICARUS Croatia, the National Archives of Hungary, the Spanish State Archives, the Archive de Domijnen and the Limburg Heritage Cooperative.
